Every once in awhile I like to take photographs and I like to alter them. The original photo was of the side of a building, its electrical boxes and conduits a perfect abstract. While I certainly liked the unadulterated original, sometimes Photoshop is too hard to resist. Here, I've changed the colors (the original building is a bilious green as are the boxes and pipes), and I added the word "synchronicity," a nod to Carl Jung, whose ideas I find fascinating.
Available only in giclee.
An assemblage made up of found wooden objects, small paintings, photo transfers, paper collage, and animals. These assemblages are playgrounds for the eye. As the shadows play on the raised parts, it's even more visually interesting. I've painted the majority in matte black to highlight the colors and show off the subtle shadows

This watercolor abstract began as an experiment using masking tape as a resist. Masking tape doesn't work very well in this way, but it led to some interesting effects.

This is a mixed media Gesso print with watercolor on paper, unframed.

A watercolor on paper showing the essence of Idaho: Trout, birds, sage-colored hills and quakies.

This is an assemblage made up of recycled wooden pieces, boxes and frames, birds and animals, and a few little paintings. It was inspired by my bulletin board that hangs over my desk, that is covered with squares and rectangles of curled photos, postcards, and clippings, held down by different shaped and colored thumb tacks. I think of this assemblage as a playground for the eyes, embellished by the slant of the sun that adds its own touch with the shifting shadows. While this would appeal to small children, there are small pieces that can be dislodged by a relentless toddler, so I recommend it be placed out of reach to prevent choking hazards.

The title explains it all. An acrylic on canvas depicting the strange effects of that cold medicine on sleep.

An acrylic on canvas board depicting the sea! You have to search to see the little starfish, but he's there. This painting placed in the top 10 in an international abstract competition that had over 800 entries.

This is a mixed media piece created from watercolors, vintage sheet music and acrylic on illustration board. A scherzo is a playful musical composition, so while assembling this, I've kept the colors and shapes playful as well.

An assemblage made up of found wooden pieces, small animals, photo transfers, paintings, collage. The picture doesn't do these assemblages justice, as part of their charm are the geometric shadows cast by the raised surfaces.

A finch contemplating life as she sits on the rafters. I was drawn by the angles and shadows of this image, painted from a photo taken from my kitchen window.

A favorite rock-climbing area in southeastern Idaho as it appears in my mind. Watercolor on watercolor board.
